What the City should do about Mardi Gras

The problem is not the parade, nor is it women flashing their breasts. The problem is too many drunks. We should ban alcohol sales for the weekend, which would have to be voluntary by the bars and stores. This would send the message loud and clear that there is no party here. Also the police should secure the streets by 4 PM, not wait until after 9 PM. I agree with the City trying to get the word out that there is no more party. However, the City needs to dialog with the students, to listen and not just lecture and threaten them. The City leaders can get the cooperation of the majority of Cal Poly students with a sincere effort to jointly work out a plan.
